Kill The Television
The BEST-WORST thing that was ever invented is the television set. It came to us purely as a means to communicate news and important information. But over the years it has become a hardcore method that is being used to both sway our opinion, sell soap, and coerce political viewpoints.
BUT what is this fancy expensive piece of energy hogging junk NOT telling us…?
Its NOT telling us about the miserable human suffering occurring right this moment in North Korea.
Its NOT explaining away the plight of the real unemployed people that have run out of benefits.
It’s NOT telling us how miserable the senior citizens are being treated by the Social Security Administration.
It’s NOT explaining why the administration donated $680,000,000.00 (Million) to Pakistan, and then demand that American farmers pay for the water to irrigate crops that we eat.
It’s NOT explaining why the administration allows illegals to get a driver license by hiring an interpreter, yet Americans have to show umpteen documents to prove residency.
I haven't watched television in several months, and it feels like my brain is coming back to normal again. I get all of my news, entertainment, and political commentary from the internet and some of my friends. The good thing is that I get to choose what I am interested in, and NOT have to be subjected to umpteen dozen commercials trying to sell me cars, insurance, erection pills, and other useless crap that costs to much, does nothing, and I never heard about before. Ahhh—Feels like a cool drop of water against my cheek to be rid of the television…
Now that the mind control device is no longer part of my daily routine; I can see with a modicum of clarity the things that were a little fuzzy before:
REALITY IN YER’ FACE!
Everything IS NOT alight out there in America! There are 45-Million families on food stamps,
90% of the seniors on Social Security are half starved, cant pay their bills, and are living way below the poverty level.
Children in the schools supported by OUR tax dollars are being spoon-fed the AMERICAN LIE that has them growing into better trained consumers with no political views, no public opinion, and no sense of morality or religion.
Parents that don’t know how to discipline their kids, are allowing the kids to discipline them. The kids are taught this in the schools.
Police departments view citizens in their jurisdiction as crooks that haven't been caught yet.
Public servants haven't been doing their jobs, yet their lazy sorry ass is still occupying the seat in their public office.
Preachers are preaching a liquefied version of the Holy Bible because their afraid to preach the gospel.
Radical Muslims are allowed to enter the USA.
Radicals from Mexico piss on the US Flag while standing on the streets of AMERICA!
Supreme Court Justices cant EVER make up their mind about ANYTHING because they haven't walked a mile in our shoes.
Oil prices are slowly dropping, but the price of gasoline is still climbing.
Food prices are shooting through the roof, yet farmers are going bankrupt.
There’s no such thing as free water anymore. The gov’ment wants to control all of it—everywhere.
Credit ratings are going down, yet the cost of credit is going up.
Banks are doubling their fees for less service than what was offered five years ago.
Gun control efforts are climbing, yet crime is at an all time high.
America locks up more people that the combined population of Sweden and Denmark.
NOW FOR THE REALLY BAD NEWS
The Crap Is Going To Hit The Fan Soon…!
There have been more tornadoes, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, droughts, floods, and other sundry natural disasters than EVER before recorded in America’s history. But, very few people are getting their collective asses ready to weather these storms. Many go about their lives from day to day, just existing from one reality show to the next, one paycheck to the next. Its almost like they are being brainwashed to be good American consumers…
WHAT IS ALL OF THIS LEADING TO…?
The BAD TIMES are just around the corner, and at our present rate of forward momentum, it won’t be long before the crap arrives on ALL of our doorsteps without much warning…!
Stockpile food, water, medical supplies, weapons, ammunition, fuels, radios, and barter materials like your life depends on it—because it does! Find some friends to help you out, watch your back, and get to know them like their blood related to you. Keep your eyes on the horizon, because whatever is coming, will be here real freaking soon, and it’s going to be a bitch from hell when it arrives.
THE ANSWERS YOU ARE LOOKING FOR
First you have to understand the threats that we are facing today. Every person on this planet will be affected to some degree, in one way or another. I have tried to warn of these threats for several years. Luckily many are listening to my ideas, thoughts, and suggestions. Small groups are popping-up everywhere, and lone wolf survivalists are coming out of the woodwork to get their families ready. But we still have some time to get ready for whatever the hell is bouncing around out there…
All this talk of war with the military is scary crap, and while many groups are forming to circumvent this possibility; I must once again state the OBVIOUS that is most evident:
The United States Government does NOT have the capacity, resources, manpower, or audacity to imprison millions of people.(Should I Say That Again?)
They haven't the bed space, or enough guards to lock everyone of us inside CAMP FEMA.
The first moment that Camp FEMA goes into full swing, will lead to an instant CIVIL WAR, and much blood shed on both sides.
Lets NOT forget that American sons and daughters are serving in the U.S. Military, and many of them have been raised by people JUST LIKE US! Its highly unlikely that these soldiers will follow unconstitutional orders that would have them fighting their neighbors and kinfolk.
My Own Rendition Of Get Righteous
If I were the Head Mother Trucker In Charge, here’s my rendition of CHANGE:
Lock down the southern borders with military troops that have permission to use deadly force. Put every illegal on notice that they have 72-Hours to vacate the country, or face being part of the chain-gangs that cleans up the highways. This would also halt the flow of drugs into America.
Prohibit consumer commodity imports from China for a period of 90-days. China allows a small percentage of American imports, yet our administration has killed American manufacturing capacity, or willingness, due to cheap Asian imports. Put Americans back to work making American products.
Put every elected official on notice that they better get off their sorry ass and do the job that they were hired to do, or face expulsion from office. Enough of these greedy fame sucking snobs squeezing every dime out of their office that they can, yet failing their constituents in every instance.
Free National Health care for everyone in the country, including dental and vision. Make America healthy again.
Flat Rate 15% tax rate for everyone, instead of the mess called the IRS we see today.
Get the U.S. budget under control by hiring one thousand small business owners that know how to budget and forecast revenues. Get a handle on that mess muy pronto…
Bring American troops back home, and only send them to foreign countries when needed. Enough with all the damned wars and conflicts.
Stop giving away trillions in subsidies to foreign governments that hate America. let em’ grown corn, or starve. America is the ONLY nation that feeds its enemies. Time to put that crap to rest!
Come down HARD on Neo-Nazis’, Klan, Skin Heads, Black Panthers, La Razza, and any other racist group that threatens women, children and old folks. They gotta be stomped out of existence!
Institute an educational panel that oversees what these rat-fink socialist school teachers and college professors are teaching out children. We pay OUR money to support these schools, and its time OUR kids learn the THREE R’s, and not be indoctrinated by these charlatans standing at the head of the classroom.
AND FINALLY
Coerce every citizen, of every state in the country, to conduct a mass protest against their own state government whenever unjust or unconstitutional legislation is introduced; such as gun control, abortion, health care, taxation, education, civil rights, and other controlling laws that inhibit or restricts free speech, free thought, free movement, or clarity of life.

Survival Perspective: SHTF Warlords
One of the more disconcerting elements of the modern day survival movement is am emerging trend which affects every survivalist, and non-survivalist alike. It goes something like this:
A small survival group Bug’s Out during a SHTF crisis. They hunker down until the crisis is over, and then systematically begin sweeping their Area of Operations (AO) on a mission to seize or plunder the area’s resources.
In case you are wondering what I mean by “Resources”; I mean the survival food and supplies that you have presently squirrel away and stockpiled for the End Times.
For the last thirty years I have tried to warn other survivalists about this threat. In many of my articles I make it perfectly clear that all of those “Shelter In Place” plans might sound good to some people; but the sad reality is that three of four well armed family members cannot hold-off a well trained and disciplined paramilitary group.

Get Some Friends Right Now!
You absolutely MUST HAVE A PLAN-B when things go south. Don’t put all of your “eggs in one basket” and foolishly believe that you will be immune to any sort of violence. That would be a serious tactical mistake.

New World Order: In Your Face
New World Order, Conspiracy Theory, End Times, The Illuminati, Revelation, TEOTWAWKI, SHTF, WROL, NWO, The Purge, Global Cleansing, Christ’s Return, Rapture, Tribulations, 2nd Genesis, End Of Technology, Rebirthing, Mayan Prophecies.
All of the terms above represent a series of divergent views, opinions, and beliefs, about how the world will end, or what the future holds for mankind. It depends entirely upon the person’s belief system, and their personal values, coupled with their own understanding of these future events.
Some would argue that in 2012 a series of cataclysmic events will rock the very foundation of all that is representative of our modern culture; while others vehemently declare without reservation, that the Wrath of GOD will fall upon mankind very soon—probably in December 2012.
No matter who I have spoken with about these future events, and no matter what their own end-times philosophies are; each person has told me that they intrinsically felt a sense of immediate urgency in getting themselves ready to face these future crisis probabilities.
My own search for answers to the omnipresent concerns about these terrible events, has led me onto a different path than some of my contemporaries. A path which looks into the historical aspects, predictability patterns, and current events around the globe--which might in some small way allow me to catch a glimpse of the initial indicators that something is amiss. But, I must admit that often-times I have to stop and look at the information peeking out from behind the veil of modern telecommunications with its inherently instant gratifying information portals—as it can quickly inundate my senses with a flood of information non-relevant to my research.
I look for emerging patterns such as unexplained weather phenomenon, psyhotronic behaviors patterns, economic trends, religious trends, political and judicial policies, national security and foreign polices, moods, consumer price indexes, and many other other data streams that fit a certain pattern of movement away from, or towards something.
With an open mind I watch these data streams fade into and out of my field of understanding. Some remain logged into the memory bank of my mind, while other data bits just flow through my mind without consequence. Yet, certain tidbits of data-information forces my mind to stop and observe a little closer, sit up straight, read a little more, and sometimes it allows the information to take my search in an entirely different direction.
It’s these little nagging things which demand that I find the answer that puzzles me the most, and oftentimes forces me to spend many hours sifting through reams and reams of information, until I achieve a sense of understanding, and have gained some inner cognitive recognition that the information which I am seeing is very important to me.
Here are some of the data-stream trends that I have encountered over the last few years, and some of these trends have increased in their individual voracities, as well as frequency of occurrences:
Food prices have risen sharply; while the prices paid to farmers have decreased exponentially. In essence; corporate America is screwing the farmers and ranchers that produce our food, while screwing us at the cash register when we buy their products.
Unemployment seems to be slowing down; based on what I see from the national unemployment index. But the index doesn’t take into account the number of people that no longer qualify for unemployment benefits, and are forced to apply for public assistance. Another disturbing factor right beside this trend is the sudden increase in the number of families applying for food stamps. Middle class America which was the very foundation of the economic growth of this country—are now losing their jobs to outsourcing, losing their homes to foreign investment banks, and forced to put corporate America’s overpriced food on their kitchen tables—bought and paid for with food stamps that are subsidized with tax revenues.
Our oil hungry nation imports more oil than many of the third world countries in South America combined. Yet our car manufacturing base is cranking out supersonic flashy cars that suck high dollar fuel faster than dairy cows can pump milk. There is little effort being put into economy cars that sip gasoline, because the younger generation of America are envious of those that have high dollar Beamer’s and Benz's. But these kids cant afford the price tag, so they spend their money foolishly on street racers that look good and are filled with all kinds of electronic gizmos that do absolutely nothing for the fuel mileage, but everything for their own sense of self indulgence—and thus send more of their dollar overseas to Asian companies importing the stereos, gps, and other electrical crap which makes mechanics smile when the car break down.
Gold prices have gone through the roof, but the Euro still outdistances the dollar by 40%. A Euro costs $1.40; even though the European monetary system is teetering on the brink of total collapse. Wall Street traders, investment bankers, international banking consortiums—all have prophesized that the European financial institutions are writing checks that their respective, and collective asses can’t cover. The US dollar has a 63% buying power. So every time that you lay down a one dollar bill—remember that it’s only worth sixty three inflation adjusted pennies. Perhaps that is why ten years ago one could buy three cans of beans for two dollars; and today one can of beans costs three dollars.
I had a long conversation a few years ago with a Harvard Math professor and political science educator. He told me that America’s economic problems could be solved in one single 24-Hour period. He told me that all of our problems could be solved if the US Government would give one million dollars to every man, woman, and child that is a citizen of this country.
Simple math tells me that there are just about 350-Million people in the USA. That means the feds would have to shell out three hundred fifty million dollars. Though at first it sounded like a very good idea, when I digested and processed that information, it was easy to see that having a country of instant millionaires wouldn’t be such a good idea.
The personal income tax on one million dollars would be in the neighborhood of 33%. So one third ($333,000) would be returned to the government the following tax year. That in itself is significant, because even before the very first tax return is ever filed, the consumer goods taxes would blow the roof off. States and cities that currently charge a 5% sales tax, would probably raise the tax structure to around 12%—just to keep up with inflationary counter-measures by the greedy corporations and outsourcing business entities. Corporate America would rise to the occasion; and that $3 can of beans today, would cost $12 tomorrow. To be sure, the labor outlook would be gloomy the first year. Many small business would be forced to close their doors because their suddenly rich employees told the boss to “stuff it”. That creates a chain reaction which slowly shuts down another source of tax revue feeding the hungry corporations and government tax structures. This in turn affects the national debt.
The national debt equals $44,900.00 per person in the United States; which puts that figure around 15-trillion dollars. Our current national debt is creeping past what our Gross National Product earns. That means we are spending more money than what we sell in products. The debt to dollar ratio is getting higher each year, and pretty soon, if the trend continues, the national debt will outsource our own production capabilities. As of February 2012, the national debt represents 96.8% of the Gross National Product. In comparison; in 2000, the ratio was 57.6% [ Oops! Can you say higher taxes, lower service, and inflated corporate consumer commodity prices…? ]
And that is the good news--Now let’s really get into some trends:
America’s population density is predicted to increase to 439-million people by 2050. That means in 38 years there will be an additional 89-million people in the USA. Along with that, the prediction is that the Hispanic-Latino population that today represents 16%, will double to a little over 30% by the year 2050. While Hispanic-Latino, African-American, and Asian-American see a rise in their population growth—the white Caucasian race declines from 79.5%, to 74%. [Hey; that’s not me talking—here’s the link: US Census Demographics ]
So, that means my grand children will be in their forties, their cost of living index will be much more than what we experience today, and the USA will be one third Hispanic-Latino, 13% African-American, and 7.8% Asian-American, with another 46.3% Non-Hispanic-White.
62% of the nations’ children in 2050 is expected to be of a minority ethnicity, and only 38% are of the Non-Hispanic White children--which declines to 56%. What does this trend mean? Better get used to Mexican food, changes in the food manufacturing process, and increased imports, while decreased exports. Are you starting to see the data-streams trending right in front of your face…
Cause and effect is most evident here; and for every trend which creates a cause; there is an equal and opposite trend that has to come around.
Newton’s Third Law;” The mutual forces of action and reaction between two bodies are equal, opposite and collinear”; in other words: “To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction: or the forces of two bodies on each other are always equal and are directed in opposite directions
- Raise taxes, people earn less
- People that earn less, spend less
- When people spend less, revenues drop
- When revenues drop, prices rise
- When prices rise, less disposable income results
- Less disposable income, means that less is spent on comfort items,
Taxes Are Raised=Less Income=Less Earnings=Less Spending=Less Sales Taxes=Less Tax Revenues= More Taxes; simple right!
So where does this all lead to, and what does it have to do with the New World Order…?
I will summarize it in one single word:
“ CONTROL!”
- Control what we earn
- Control what we eat
- Control what we drink
- Control what we spend
- Control how we spend it
- Control where we spend it
- Control how we save it
- Control how we use it
And if we don’t like that—then make a law that forces us to be controlled by the thing that we don’t like in the first place. If we still don’t buckle down, then control the manner in which we speak out against it; make it “unconstitutional speech”.
It gets a little weird from here down:
We have a supreme court that gives “Human Rights” to a corporate entity; but cannot give those same rights to a fetus in the womb.
The same supreme court that is sworn to uphold the US Constitution; and yet allows foreign national agitators to stand on America’s street corners and piss on the US flag, and burn it on main street—while telling American citizens that to oppose the “Lawful Constitutional Rights” of these bastards—makes “You and I” the criminals.
The same Supreme court that denies the rights of Oklahoma citizen to add another amendment to THEIR State Constitution outlawing Sharia Law.
[ LINK: News Article By The Huffington Post ]
The same Supreme court that threatens the Governor of Arizona about their constitutional rights to impose immigration polices along the Mexican border.
A system of government that bends at the waist to atheist political activists to remove prayer, and religious symbols from schools, and public buildings; but has the sheer audacity to demand that churches and religious charity groups provide birth control to people that are fundamentally opposed to that principal on the religious grounds that birth control is murder.
A system that refuses to acknowledge “creeping-sharia” as being the single most dangerous threat to the American Constitution, and way of life; and just yesterday gives top-level security clearances to the Muslim Brotherhood.
Global warming is always in the data-stream; but lately its been all about “Global Cooling” that is making all the headlines in the world.
Most of Europe is under an icy blanket which has already killed hundreds of people, and forced millions more into shelters. A slice of bread topped with fat and onions; are the what’s keeping some of these folks alive. In placed like Rome, Greece, and much of the United Kingdom; shelters are over-crowded, and the local authorities are telling hospital staff to keep patients, instead of sending them back into the cold to die of hypothermia.
Here in the USA, a flue is quickly spreading across the state boundaries. Everyone that I know is suffering from form of the flue, or another. The map below shows what the CDC calls “seasonal flus”: All but three states have been affected; with the heaviest hit areas along the I-70 Interstate corridor that runs from Washington DC into Utah.
A major winter storm system is sweeping through the Midwest causing massive traffic snarls, shutting highways down, and forcing the closure of school and other essential services. Airline service is taking a bit hit, and the trucking industry has come to a near stand-still in the wake of the storms.
Texas and other southwest states are facing droughts this summer. There hasn't been enough snowpack in the Rocky Mountains to supply the Midwest corn-belt, or the southwester underground aquifers, with enough water. consequence is that farmers will not be able to irrigate their corn and wheat fields. Once again this will affect the supply-side of the equation, and those products will see a price hike this fall, if not earlier. It also affects beef production, but grain-fed cattle need the surplus corn that farmers sell. Beef and other herd-meat products will likewise experience rising prices.
There have been several reports arising out of South America that has alarmed many people. Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Venezuela, and Panamanians have recorded what people are terming “Elijah’s Trumpet” call. This is the biblical trumpet blast that will be heard three times around the world before GOD unleashes the evil plagues which kills one third of mankind. A few scattered reports are seen from the USA, but nothing significant so far.
Other indicators
Earthquake are swarming all across the country
There are eleven volcanoes active around the globe
Three cyclone are hammering the Indian ocean
Small Pox, Cholera, and other diseases are rapidly becoming “Totally Resistant To Antibiotics” at an alarming rate. Lets not forget that H1N1 as well as H5N5 are still active right beside Ebola, SARS, and other flu’s creeping around the world. It is just a matter of time before a type of the Spanish Flu of 1913 remerges and becomes another genocidal killer of mankind. Considering the many rouge jihadist scientists that have an axe to grind with America and the West; it would be a devious way to rid the planet of God's children. Imagine a dozen medically infected martyrs arriving on America’s shores with a virus that has a two week incubation period, and then rapidly infects everyone that comes into contact with these people. Go watch the the movie “Contagion” to see what the government response would be. Scary stuff to be sure.
But amidst all of this gloom and doom, there is some good news as well: Survival groups are forming everywhere. Individual preppers are popping-up faster than clap through a whore-house; and The North American Survival Alliance is growing each day. It’s my personal hope that survivalist will embrace this FREE opportunity to reach out to other groups and preppers that are preparing for collapse of society, as well as natural disasters. In these highly unusual times it will be the small groups that flourish when others suffer. The question remains: are you willing to face these coming-times all by yourself, or would it be easier and safer to surround yourself with friends that “Got Yer’ Back” when SHTF.

Sanctuary Among The Trees: Part 2
For most of the afternoon I have trudged through the slippery foliage against the driving rain. The incessant rain continued unabated throughout my trek, making the going even more difficult than before. Underneath my feet the saturated ground gives way to a quagmire of mud which threatens to slip my ankle at every turn. Already the extra burden of watching every foot-fall has taken its toll—my legs muscles scream for a rest.
I stop and look around me; casting a quick glance at my wristwatch I see that time has once again slipped by. It’s near evening, and already the coming darkness quickly interfuses with the foreboding dark of the forest. Across to my right I see a small trail; a tiny sliver of brown amidst the green surrounding it. A few quick steps and I understand what I am seeing; an age old game trail that has been used by bear and moose alike to work their way down out of these mountains. This is evidenced by the many fresh bear tracks, some only hours old. Others indeterminable.
To my left a steep hillside rises higher into these eternal mountains; to my right a terraced drop-off leading down to a stream. I am halfway between the high and low ground—halfway between the light remaining overhead, and the night that is hungrily approaching.
With no time left to find a suitable camp, I spot a tangle of trees. Branches run amok among their heights; my eyes following along a thick branch jutting out from among the rest. The height is a mere twenty feet from the ground, but it’s girth will allow me to remain safely out of reach in this bear trodden area. It seems to be my only choice. Already my sore muscles congratulate me, as already my feet are carrying me towards my sleeping area.
Dropping may rucksack, and securing my rifle and gear to it; I attach a fifty foot length of cammie rope to it; the other end tied to by belt loop. The rough bark of this aged tree scrapes against my fingers as I begin my ascent into its awaiting clutches. Using every branch as a hand and foot hold, I find myself climbing higher within its lofty view until I can climb no more.
The wind whispers through my hair as I look around me taking in the magnificent view below. To some men, this view would would cost them a million dollars—to me it is but a few moments of strenuous climbing.
My rucksack is tied against the tall tree trunk. Crammed between two outwardly pointing limbs, I have secured myself a perch. I will not be able to lay down, but having positioned my rucksack just so—I am able to sit on it and lean back without fear of falling. Later I will tie myself to this tree to keep me safe up here; but for now I am content to be off the well travelled bear trail. Safely tucked up here where the wind will carry my scent away.
Laying on my back with my legs dangling over the edge of the limbs, I truly feel alive out here among the wilds that so few have experienced. It’s not often that humanity veers from it’s modernized path to find itself a guest among nature. As I lay here gazing across the lush expanse of the forest below, and feeling the pitter-patter of rain drops against my poncho; I am reminded that our humanity is fragile as a jetliner passes quietly overhead. Its blinking lights a testament to humankinds inventions—a reminder that technology is weak when compared against nature. There is no noise as the jet fades from view, only the sound of the rain against my clothing. and the sound of my chewing the Wheat Bread rations that I have brought with me.
Tonight's meal will be cold. Military crackers smeared with peanut butter and jelly; washed down with lukewarm instant hot chocolate. A scrumptious feast among the swaying branches; a delicacy nourishing the body and mind. Twenty feet below the rain cascades from the base of this old tree, its wave of water spreading outwards to be hungrily drank by the thirsty forest floor.
Already the night has once again crept up on me. My eyes have adjusted to the almost dark. The rains make for a darker night, but the darkness hides me from the savage below; the cold wind sending my smell higher among the tall trees; denying the bears my presence.
My poncho is worn like a cape to protect me from the driving rain. Here and there I have to adjust my position to keep out small wet stains. The toes of my boots are soaked, but so far my feet remain dry. With my head peeking out from under the rubberized hood, and safely tucked away inside of my rain suit; I will probably stay relatively dry up here. I’d rather be soaking wet, than be bloody dead down there.
Most of these game trails have existed for centuries before man came to this place. The trail is dotted with scat from different animals; fresh prints mingle with old prints. Wolf, Moose, Bears, and small rodents use this trail. It is not a safe place for my kind to remain long. Even remaining in close proximity requires careful planning. This place is not for the uninitiated who wildly tromp through its confines demanding all around to bend to their will. Many have learned the difficulties of this; many have learned it the hard way. One cannot bargain with nature or its wild beast; one cannot hope to force their will upon either. Many travellers to this wild country have vanished, to never be heard from again—Ever!
As I slip off to sleep, my mind wanders across the far reaches of time. I remember the reason that I came here; the nexus of all that has sent me to this place. I imagine a world gone sour; the suffering of humanity, the pain of reliance upon technologies that are apt to fail. I feel a loss inside of my very heart when contemplating these things. My mind’s eye plays vivid movies of these things—and I vow to myself that I will not allow these things to corrupt me. I remember the jetliner cruising across my vision earlier. I can almost see the passengers sipping drinks, and staring thousands of feet below into the darkness that keeps me safe. I wonder if these people understand the unnaturalness of their flight. That should nature unleash its fury; their delightful journey may suddenly come to an abrupt end. It’s not my nature to dwell upon these events; I dare not challenge the universe. But deep inside of all that I am, of all that I have come to be—I understand the meaning to my purpose, and I understand the urgency that has been imparted to me. My only regret is that many people exists with their unseeing eyes. They are blind to their environment. They have become deaf to the sounds of mother earth’s discontent—and perhaps in our lifetimes she will remind us even more that we, like our animals cousins, are simply as fragile as seeds sowed upon the winds.
The rain had stopped somewhere in the early dark hours of the morning. I was oblivious, tucked inside of my makeshift poncho tent. Occasionally a gust of wind would ruffled the edges of the poncho, but soon the tiredness sent me spiraling back down into my sleep.
Now, as my feet once again feel the firmness of the ground; I hurry away from this area, my belly growling for food. With my left foot placed in front of my right, I leave the sanctuary of the trees and head further uphill to assuage my wet and tired muscles.
Less than an hour later I see the perfect spot. Overlooking a large stream I set about to dry my gear, and get some hot food inside of me.
Wisps of steam rise from the canteen cup of boiling water. A bag of freeze dried scrambled eggs and peppers will provide the sustenance that is needed to make the last few miles into the Safe Area. Several cups of coffee will also help to shake the coldness from my bones. While waiting for the water to boil, I strip down my weapons and carefully clean and oil each component.
The sunlight against my face warms me somewhat; but more importantly—it tells me that todays journey might be a little easier. All around me the scent of raw nature floods my senses. The smell of damp grass, the way that the earth smells; intermingling with the smell of pine trees. It’s quickly becoming a paradise, a place that I could forever remain. But my destination calls out to me. I have reason to continue my trek through the myriad of spectacular countryside ahead of me.
With one final look backwards, my feet begin their journey forward into the trees. My eyes scan the skies overhead, noting the potion of the sun; and just as quick, my eyes begin their systematic search of the undergrowth as I am carried along this odyssey deep within the jungle called Alaska.
Along the way I encounter many animals; the small chipmunks, rabbits, ptarmigans, and grouse. These creatures make their home here among the trees; and they pay little attention to me as I work my way through the tangled undergrowth. The ground is littered with Moose tracks. Fresh droppings tell me that meat will not be a problem here. The problem is when Man enters these woods to slaughter these magnificent animals for sport, or to acquire a trophy. It trespasses upon all that I hold sacred. I have arrived here from a long line of hunters dating back to the beginning of time itself. My bow and arrow feel as natural to me as cell-phones feel to others. It is a way to feed those that are hungry, it is a means to provide hide shelters from the cold rains—it is not a sport to relish and cherish; as taking the life of an animal needlessly upsets the balance of nature’s energy. There will be an accounting for this in another life.
I walk around the edges of the pond to see what animals are drinking from it. The many trails leading down to its banks tells me that game is plentiful. I will not go hungry in this place. Nature will provide me with what I require, as long as I do not abuse the privilege.
I spend the next hour setting up a series of snares; hoping to catch a wild rabbit or two. I have plenty of food with me, but it’s always good to supplement my rations with fresh meat.
With my camp all prepared for the coming darkness, I find myself inexorably drawn to the comfort of a moss covered spot. Arranging some branches to hide my form, I slip down onto the warm earth and find contentment in the sounds of nature. All around me the quiet noises of the forest lulls me down into a satisfying sleep.
I have chosen this place as a refuge in case things back in The World goes south. Here among the craggy peaks of the mountains, I find myself drawn backwards in time to an age where a Man, such as I have arisen from, made his solitary way throughout his existence. I am sure, insomuch as is possible—that he and I share many of the same thoughts when so confronted with the beauty and bounty of nature. Deep within me I sometimes feel his presence urging me onwards, guiding me through the tangle of these woods, and sometimes through the tangles of life among humanity as well. The ancestral bond remains unbroken out here. It grows and nourishes the spirit of him, and those that came after him; flooding my sense of identification with this place, this time—and thus all that it means to me.
I have named this place—Home…
